Christmas Cheer

This pretty much sums up our Christmas in Oregon - Keyton wearing a Santa hat with a fish going through it, Larry wearing Grandma Carol's old wig, and Keyton sitting on his duff sideways in an arm chair.

Peacock Lane

There is a certian Peacock lane with little cute Swedish houses all dressed in lights. People come from all around town to enjoy the festivities. There are lights, lawn ornaments, and Nick providing the sound track on the harmonica.

What the heck?!?

Sledding with Dad

Even though this video makes it sound like Keyton is so excited he messed himself at the bottom of the hill, in reality he has calmed down quite a bit from the first slide down. Dude loves to sled.

Christmas take 1

Long story short: we will be celebrating Christmas in many rounds this year. The first round was with our friend Dawn. I'm not sure who enjoyed themselves more, Keyton with his play set of keys or Dawn with her Brad Johnson jersey.

(Christmas rounds 2,3,&4 will be with Grandma Banana in Portland, Grandpa Scott and Grandma Cathy in Gresham, and a fourth and final post-Christmas with Nick, Keyton and I back in the freezing north to open all the presents that got mailed to our house before we decided to go to Oregon for Christmas.)

The Perfect Tree

I'll tell you because you can't necessarily tell from this picture, it was SO cold outside--like maybe 6 degrees. Brrr. But I guess you can still pick out a Christmas tree when it is only 6 degrees, and the bitter cold makes the whole process go a little faster which is good when you're tree shopping with a toddler. So here we are picking out the perfect tree. But the tree we actually ended up getting isn't actually pictured here. The tree we rescued was a real beaut from the pile of scraps to be used for making wreathes. It was $1. Charlie Brown would be proud. So without further adieu, our tree. . .

Mom time

Keyton and I made our first snowman the other day. Well, it was more like a snow jaba-the-hut. The snow was too light and fluffy. Good skiing snow, but not good snowman snow. Keyton especially had fun applying and reapplying the carrot nose. And of course kicking the snowman.

Christmas Caroling

We had some of our neighbors over the other night to sing Christmas carols and eat goodies. The kids especially loved dancing with the jingle bells.

Bus driver Keyton

Nick and I ride a free bus that connects the St. Paul campus to the Minneapolis campus where we go to school. Keyton LOVES to ride this bus. Riding is an end unto itself for him. I don't think he realizes you ride the bus to get somewhere! Needless to say that this toy from the toy library has been a big hit. Keyton is forever driving, just like they do on the bus.

Timmy in a Tizzy 2

Keyton loves everything farm. He has a farm book and constantly wants to read "i-eye-i-eye-oh" (as in Old McDonald had a farm). He especially loves sheep. There is a King of Town toon on Homestar Runner that features sheep. He would watch it over and over if I would reload it for him, but who can really watch the same 3 minute toon over and over? In a quest to find another sheep cartoon to apease my grumpy son (who was woken up early from his nap by the snowblower outside his window) I found this gem. The upside is it has sheep in it and it reloads itself. The downside is it's only about a minute long and Keyton watched it over and over and over and over and over. . . . .

Snow slide

We got about 8 inches of snow yesterday and had fun playing outside.

Snow Day

The weather people say we had a record cold November. Now we're beginning December with a huge storm. It's going to be a long winter.
