Nick and I love to keep track of all of Keyton's skills. He can recognize a circle, knows the color blue, says prayers, and can drop-kick a football. Most impressive are his mad tongue skills.

hollidazle parade

A nighttime parade in Minneapolis in November? brrr.

But Keyton was the warmest kid on the block!

Some of those sparkley floats were a little scary, but we still had a good time.

Day 4 with the Cool Aunt and the Fun Continues!

Friday, November 23, 2007

gobble gobble

We had a typical Thanksgiving day: Cooking in the morning and. . .

eating copious amounts of food in the afternoon.

We had friends that were nice enough to have us and about 20 other people to their house for Thanksgiving dinner. We lost Keyton at one point and found him playing in the tub. Silly Keyton.

Day 1 with the Cool Aunt

My sister Katie flew in from Seattle to spend the weekend with us. . . well really to spend the weekend with Keyton. While other relatives only feign remorse for never visiting, Katie actually visits!! Day 1 with Cool-Aunt-Katie included:

Riding the bus to campus--Keyton's all time favorite activity!!
Looking at the art at the Weissman Museum.
Eating a tasty lunch of cold spaghetti. yum.
Walking around the house in Mom's shoes. What an athlete.

Stay tuned for the rest of our Thanksgiving adventures!

Keyton the Spirokeet

My sister Katie is a biology major. In her microbiology class they have been studying the different shapes of bacteria. Spirochetes (pronounced spiro-keet) are microorganisms in the shape of flexible helices. With Keyton in mind, she and her friend Hillary started calling them "spirokeetys." Hillary took it one step further, however, and photoshopped this lovely image of a spirokeety. She then proceeded to e-mail it to their micro professor, who displayed it for the entire class the next day. He asked the class if perhaps they all had a bit too much time on their hands, seeing as Hillary turned some poor boy in a spirochete. Keyton, you're famous!!

The Zoo

Friday morning Keyton and I went to the MN Zoo with our friend Amy and her two kids. The boys mostly chased each other around and glanced at the animals. My favorite part was on the way home when everyone fell asleep.

No pants. No shirt. No way.

Question: What keeps Keyton sitting still for 5 minutes straight?
Answer:Video conferencing with his Grandma Banana who is acting out a finger puppet show starring Chucky and Bucky her index fingers.

Q: What makes Keyton dangle from the kitchen counter?
A: The same thing that makes him jump from the ottoman onto the couch.

Q: What makes Keyton scowl at his mom?
A: The uncomfortable feeling of wearing cream of wheat all over his face OR the annoying prospect of being asked yet again to "smile at the camera!!"

I walked into the kitchen the other day and found Keyton eating not one, not two, but all six cupcakes off the stove. I guess he really is his father's son.

Davy Crockett Keety Style

Keyton was Davy Crockett for Halloween, equipped with a coon-skin hat from Granny Banany and a grocery-bag vest from his mom. Nick wanted to take him trick-or-treating to get free candy for ourselves. Instead we had some friends over. The kids had fun screaming and making pumpkin heads. Keyton got really into it.
