20 degrees, feels like 5

Nick took Keyton to our ECFE (mom and tot preschool thing) class Wednesday where the teacher asked "Keyton, you have big news, what happened last week at your house?" K replied "umm. . . .it snowed!!". Yes it did.

A long, long time ago

This, my penultimate day of pregger-ness, seems so long ago.

This giraffe had a baby too.

Week One

Lola is flexible.

We are not.

(I think she looks like my sister Natalie as a baby in this one!)

Keyton the poet

We've been trying to branch out with bedtime books lately, mostly because if I have to read "A bad case of the stripes" one more time I might jump out the window. So for about a week we've been reading some Shel Silverstein. I said the first few words of one of Keyton's favorites today, and he finished the rest of it from memory. More is getting into his head than I give him credit for, I think.

Here it is. "Senses," page 134 in A Light in the Attic

video

A Mouth was talking to a Nose and an Eye.
A passing listening Ear
Said, "Pardon me, but you spoke so loud,
I couldn't help but overhear."
But the Mouth just closed and the Nose turned up
And the Eye just looked away,
And the Ear with nothing more to hear
Went sadly on its way.

Our Week in Review

Before K was born: "No son of mine will ever sit in his booster chair, totally naked, watching the Royal London Youth Ballet Troupe perform Peter and the Wolf."

After K was born: "Keyton, if I let you watch Peter and the Wolf in your blue chair naked will you let me cut your hair?"

Keyton consuming a "cookie pancake" I made him for breakfast. The recipe is really easy: pour pancake batter into pan, put whole oreo cookies on the gooey side, flip, cook, and enjoy. Also, don't tell your wife you are making K a cookie pancake until he's eating it and will pitch a fit if she tries to take it away.
We got K a three wheeled scooter from the toy library. He loves it. This is one of his new tricks. He rides the scooter and sticks one leg out. That's my boy!
You can't really tell from the picture, but that is snow falling.
Family pictures this morning on the stairs before church. One of the cool features of our new camera is you can set it to take multiple pictures after you set the timer. So instead of having to set the timer 9 times to get 9 bad family pictures, we only had to set it 3 times (3 pictures each) to get 9 bad family pictures.

Family pictures

So we've been going to town with our new camera. Lachelle ironed a shirt this morning and Keyton looked pretty deboner in his sweater vest, so we decided a mother/son picture was in order. The conversation went something like this.

Lachelle: Keyton, come over by this tree so we can take a picture together.
Keyton: Sprwonigkry! [He talks in jibberish a lot, and this is my best guess as to how to spell what he said as he took off full speed around the tree]

The combination of Keyton wearing his "fast shoes" and Lachelle wearing a fetus gave Keyton a definite edge and he very quickly put some distance between himself and aformentioned family picture. Please note his running form - arms out to his sides like wings on an airplane. Please do not note Lachelle's form - I have no idea what she was doing. Maybe she thought they were playing statue tag and she was "it."

I didn't want to waste the beautiful weather or the scenic tree backdrop, so I cozied up with my double chin and we snapped us a winner.

Keyton came through in the end, even if we did have to bribe him with this stick.

He makes this same face when he has snot running down his face and he doesn't want to get it in his mouth.
