FHE: Microlending

We felt it was time for Lola to have her first lesson in microlending.

Keyton did a fine job of explaining it to her.

Sadly there were no apple farmers to lend to, "oh man!"

So we picked a nice taco stand owner instead.

Lola was very pleased, as were we all.

all dressed up

Lola sports her one and only Grandma Hansen dress, a hand-me-down from Paul and Nancy's girls. We wish you were here Grandma.

Ward Camp Out

Sammy found baby Yoya right away.

Keyton found Riley, Mr. Foster's dog of puppet show fame right away.

Everyone else found the food.

And the entertainment.

In the morning we went on a hike where Keyton learned the finer points of not stepping in horse poop.

First barrette.

First sink bath.

First mess. Well, maybe it wasn't her first mess, but it was a good one.

It's official

Nick passed the bar and his judge swore him. Yeah Nick!

The office.

Federal judges are treated with the utmost dignity and respect.

Lola slept through the whole thing.

We're moving to Lafayette Indiana in August where Nick will do another clerkship. We went down last weekend for an orientation hosted by the clerks whom Nick and others will be replacing.

One of the new clerks has a 4 year-old son and a 3 month-old daughter, um what are the odds?

The highlight of the weekend was Keyton's first horse ride! I thought he would chicken out but he was brave.

The whole crew. I must point out that Keyton is looking particularly high-brow in this photo.

It is finished

I'm not sure if I graduated, but someone named Lay-chel H. Smith The Forth did. (Thank you mister reading-the-names-guy for that one). Now I'm official--I think--with a Masters in Public Policy from the Humphrey Institute at the University of Minnesota.

Grandparents for the Weekend

Despite the luxurious accommodations, Terry and Becky come for a visit.

Straight away we send Terry, Nick and Keyton off on a father-son camp out. Why they hold these activities in May I'll never know. I think it was around 30 degrees and windy when they woke up in the morning. Keyton came prepared in his down coat.

He liked especially liked the "foofy grass".

And talking about his feelings with Grandpa.

The next day we went to the St. Paul Farmer's market,

Where Becky spoiled Keyton in true Grandma fashion.

It was a little colder than we were expecting so Nick shared his fleece with Keyton. Keyton looked like Yoda. Nick looked cold.

We visited the court house (AKA the Castle) where Nick works.

Sunday we went to my commencement ceremony. That's love.

Monday we visited Stillwater, a cute little town on the St. Croix river. Lola slimed Nick.

We treked across the bridge so Becky could add Wisconsin to her states-visited list.

Here's proof.

We wrapped up the day at Teddybear park.
