Swimming Lessons 90210
I expected singing, bubbles, floating and kicking, but I didn't expect K's swimming lessons to make me feel so old.
You see, K's preschool swimming lesson class was taught by four teachers right out of Baywatch. That is 2 women to do all the work and 2 men in sunglasses to work on their tans.
L: What are you going to do at your swimming lessons today?
K: I'm going to float on my back (pause) and relax because that guy says to relax.
L: What does relax mean?
K: To lay very very still.
My pecks are bigger than your son's giant head.
Speaking of Baywatch. . .
The BEST part of the week was the rainy day where Landon was apparently freezing.
K: Landon folded his arms for my whole swimming.
K and Bennett, the skinny three-year-olds weren't cold at all.
Ruby wins the prize for getting Keyton down the water slide.

4th of July at Lake Wobegon
We decided to go all out for our last 4th of July in MN, by treking to Avon, MN for the live broadcast of Prarie Home Companion in Lake Wobegon park. Lola stakes out our seats.
While we wait for the show to begin: bike ride/nap,
and a tasty hat.
Here's the man who made the day. That would be the good doctor himself, Jason Doolittle.
First, the back story: The day before we spent the day cleaning house and K did a great job entertaining himself so we could do so. At one point he had a paper box lid and a handful of nickles and was playing an elaborate game of pretend: the nickels were "bocklegons" which popped open when you slammed them in the box and they had battles with their "weabons". I was impressed by his imagination and wondered just what the first signs of a treky were. Come to find out what he was really doing was imitating a game the neighbors kids play with bokugons. Think japanamation meets transformers; pogs meet dungeon and dragons.
Jason caught wind of K's obsession and bought him some. Keyton was beside himself. He played with them all day and showed them to any unsuspecting bystander within reach. "Look at my bokugon!!". They didn't even see it coming.

Camping at Nerstrand Big Woods, MN
To celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary we packed the family up for a weekend camping trip. How romantic I know.
K got down to business right away gathering his rock collection.
Our little car toughs it out in the wilderness. Keep it up car, K's driving you in high school!
Well, I'm not sure wilderness is the right word. We didn't make reservations so when we got to the campground we got the last site, the handicap site which was just a short wheel away from the facilities.
We set up camp and went on a hike to a waterfall to look for deer because "Deers live in forest-es".
In Minnesota "waterfall" means something a little smaller than it does in the West.
This picture was taken moments before we spotted a deer running through the woods. "I told you deers live in forest-es!"
Hot dogs. A must.
After a night of pouring rain, thunder and lightening we emerge from our puddle of a tent to make breakfast. Safety first K.
Another deer hunt.
A clearing in the woods shows what the farmer's doing next door.
Nick takes Keyton out on a log over a vast ravine.
Lola can't even look.
