Getting ready

We're getting ready for our Christmas visitors. Keyton prepares by bringing home Ginger, the class hamster to keep our guests awake all night by running on her squeaky wheel.

In preparation for pending photo opps, Lola is out to impress with her huge goose egg.

Blue Chair

Lola loves this chair, we often find here there.
We treat it with great care, so we'll never need a spare.

December 9-12, 2009

Keyton asked for an X-box with two controllers and a blue remote control car that can go on the grass.

Lola didn't want anything badly enough to sit on that man's lap.

But, could he entice her with a candy cane?

Nope. She loves candy canes, but that guy's scary.

Luckily, mom's a push over.

In Keyton's words

Froppit's smiling.

Froppit's teeth and she's smiling with her teeth out.

She's playing with the Christmas tree.

I'm smiling and those are blocks for our battle.

I'm looking out the window.

Preschool party

Keyton's preschool put on a winter program, I think to butter us up with preschool cuteness so we wouldn't completely revolt against what they hit us with next--a five week break. (Keyton's there on the front right.)

He amazed us with his rhythm stick skills.

Lola was especially riveted.

Craft time.

Keyton expands on the symbolism and historic significance of the gingerbread man with Noff, Yin and George.

Christmas cookies

I don't know why I take pictures every time Nick and Keyton make cookies. I think it must be those ridiculous aprons.

Are you surprised that K wanted pink frosting?

First Snow

Keyton enjoys the first snow by making snowballs and throwing them at the garage.

Lola and I prefer to enjoy the first snow inside reading books.

what a helper

Lola is a great help. She likes to empty dressers, distribute toys about the house, and re-shelf books. Her latest help has been taking candy canes off the Christmas tree to taste. Thanks Lola.

Lafayette Holiday Parade

We parked ourselves downtown for this community parade complete with marching bands, dance teams, fire trucks, motorcycles, and more boyscout troops than any one town needs. And compared to the holibidazzled night-time Christmas parade in Minneapolis, it was toasty warm.

Keyton took the parade very seriously. He returned the wave of every princess or float rider.

And in case I was lax on my parade attentiveness Keyton was there to hit me repetitively on the leg and say "Mom! Mom! Mom! Mom! You're missing it!!!"
