My trip began with a four hour layover in Minnesota, so some old friends were good enough to meet me for dinner at Cafe Latte. Several weeks before I had a passing thought that maybe I should loose some weight. Other than being an unnecessary and stupid idea, I realized most of them were pregnant anyway so it didn't matter. What good friends! It was really fun to see them.

(Jason and Becca)

Lola and I then spent the weekend in Portland going on walks to meet every cat in the neighborhood and dog in the park.

Much to Natalie's dismay, we ditch Lola in the care of Banana/Larry and Cathy/Scott and head to Boise to go house hunting. While we are gone Lola and Banana explore the meaning of glasses.

Natalie finds accompanying her stressed-out sister house hunting is an excellent way to recover from taking the Oregon Bar. Here we document that her hair is reddish, verses platinum blond as believed by some who are crazy.

Here's the house we put an offer on the day before we left town. The sellers have accepted, but it is a short sale so now we wait for the bank. Hopefully we'll move in in August.

Returning home with ALL our stuff. I wouldn't call it a vacation, but it was a fun and productive trip.

A walk downtown

Even when when my kids aren't with me, my train spotting instinct still kicks in, "Look! A train!!". Train tracks through the middle of town mean endless spottings.

Here the happy onlooker also enjoys munching on an ice-cycle.

Across the bridge from the train is the ice skating rink where we watch the hat-less, glove-less skaters freeze. Keyton says, "Someday I want to go ice skating. Maybe when I'm 12."

Valentine's Day Loot

We're feeling the love at our house. Gramma Becky sent a package for the kids.

I got a Purdue Snuggie from Nick. What did Nick get? Nick pilfered candy from the kid's package and borrowed the Snuggie.

Katie, don't trip and fall!!

My dad and Cathy came to visit and being good hosts we offered sword fight wake up calls as early as you want, or don't want as the case may be.

There was ample reading and nose picking to be had.

We headed to South Bend to visit Janelle and Dallin and see Katie's track race. The kids were so excited.

Super-fan Keyton gives Katie a few last minute tips before the race.

Go spartans!

Katie PRed by like a million seconds or something due no doubt to our awesome signs.

In all our glory.

We naturally had to visit Touchdown Jesus.

Being fairly new at Notre Dame, Janelle and Dallin are still willing to show visitors this mural. I wonder how long that will last--then again does Touchdown Jesus ever loose his charm?

After watching Katie run so hard we all needed a nap and a snack. And so we did.
