Mads turns one.

Mads spent his first birthday with two special people who share the same birthday:

Uncle Kyle, who turned twenty-something.

And Grandma Great who turned seventy-something.

Happy birthday Mads!

Shasta II

Mads takes the wheel

Keyton tubing fiend

Lola recovers from a don't-make-me-go-on-the-motorboat-freak out and takes the wheel. Maybe only to ensure we are headed back to the dock.

Pictures from Shasta's past on the bulletin board.

Twinner suits

Lola strictly followed the sleep for 20mins, scream for 3 schedule all the way to Portland.

We went to lunch in Portland before finishing the final leg to Boise. Lola woke up in the car hours later and asked when we were having lunch.

Shasta I

We decided to head to the famous family reunion at Shasta Lake in northern California. It was a long drive from Boise but it was all on back roads through small towns and range land with no McDonalds in sight. It was a nice break from I-84 to Portland. Nick was a trooper to drop us off before heading to Gresham to work remotely for the week.

A rarity about 45mins before we arrived.

Brooklyn, Lexi, and Lola played all week. Here they use the cabin window as a mirror to perfect "dancing puppy" skits.

The man, the myth, the legend Larry Kerr, responsible for starting this whole Shasta thing.

Mads cleans up in the buff.

A fine tradition: fishing off the dock with homemade poles a la Greg Brown.

Just like back in the day. Bri is still tanning but this time I'm not ashamed to don my SPF 50.

Second generation

Lola is a fearless dock jumper. Just don't put her in a motorboat.
