Rafting the Lower Salmon

Rafting teams were: Cheese Curd and Banana, Nick and Lachelle, Katie and Dubert, Mike and Bear.

Katie and I are resting. Nick and Dubert are. . . stretching?

Oh yeah, Doug came too.

Dubert and Katie's engagement picture.

Who wears this better: Bear or Banana?

Breakfast tacos!!

Tour guide Larry shows us the Chinese mining house along the way.

It wasn't Old Doris's, but the drinks were cheap and the burgers the size of hubcaps. It was a great success!

Backpacking

For our 10 year anniversary Nick and I went backpacking in the White Clouds, near Stanley, Idaho. Yay!! Come to find out my mom and Larry were home with our kids battling diarrhea, so as my brother pointed out, the timing couldn't have been better.

We did a 3 night/4 day trip and were pretty proud for keeping our packs just at 25lbs each. There were lots of scenic vistas and high mountain lakes.

Right behind Nick is a little path called Devil's Staircase that we are about to ascend. Nick is trying to kill me.

The climb was crazy, but we ended up here (at Shallow lake maybe?) and had it all to ourselves. The sunset and full moon behind that mountain - Mariam point or something? - was cool.

Maybe I packed sunscreen that was half empty so we sport our trendy bandanas for sun protection.

I'll spare you all the pictures of wildlife we took for our kids - mostly squirrels and fish. But here is a photo of a print from the trial, CLEARLY a bear paw.

Castle Peak

For added adventure our car broke down in Hailey on the way home, so that was fun. Nick's brother rescued us and we were back the following week to pick up the car. The end.

Lola reached another milestone: self haircut. She actually did a pretty good job and was very remorseful.

Mads climbs!

Lola has been sneaking the camera and taking all sorts of shots, like this self photo.
